A golf day hosted at a Stratford-upon-Avon hotel and golf club contributed to an aggregate merchant raising around £15,000 for a West Midlands children’s hospice.
More than 60 golfers dusted off their clubs for the FGD Ltd Golf Day at Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club, with the day raising thousands for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Acorns Children’s Hospice is a local children’s charity providing specialist care services to life-limited children and their families in the West Midlands.
FGD, which has offices in Wolverhampton and Coventry, provides material solutions for the construction industry, and the golf day boosted its annual fundraising for Acorns to £15,000.
The golf day followed other fundraising activities and events by FGD Ltd for Acorns, including a charity shooting day at Honesberie Shooting, which was responsible for a large percentage of the funds raised over the course of the yar.
The company employs 40 people and brought together clients and partners for a round at the challenging 18-hole golf course just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.
It is the third time the golf day has been hosted at Stratford Park, with challenges such as hit the green and fines for going into the bunker raising extra funds for charity.
Stratford Park Hotel and Club, with its central location in the heart of UK, enabled people from across FGD’s national client base to attend – with a barbecue also hosted for the golfers to enjoy.
William Telfer, Strategic Assistant and Sales Trainer at FGD Ltd, said: “This year’s golf day was a huge success. It was a great opportunity to catch-up with our clients and raise money for an important cause.
“We support Acorns because when you are based across the West Midlands like we are, you can really see the impact they have and that any fundraising does make a real difference.
“It’s the third time we have brought our event to Stratford Park and it works perfectly for us as a venue. The team there give a really good user experience, you feel welcomed and the outdoor area is ideal for our barbecue to end the day.
“The course is a good test of golf with beautiful views. We take it over for the day and have a shotgun start, which means everyone can start and come in together, creating a great atmosphere on the day – and we have been very lucky with the weather too, which always helps!
“Over the course of the year we have run a number of initiatives in addition to the golf day to raise funds for the charity, particularly our charity hooting day, and we are proud to have been able to raise £15,000 so far.”
Stratford Park Hotel’s golf course is nestled in the Welcombe Hills, surrounded by Warwickshire’s charming countryside.
It hosts corporate and charity golf days throughout the year, offering golf, on-site bedrooms, and food and drink.
Beverley Haynes, General Manager at Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club, said: “We have a strong partnership with FGD Ltd and we are pleased to have hosted the last three editions of their golf day.
“Acorns does incredible work all across the Midlands and everyone at FGD should be proud of the money they have raised this year.
“We look forward to continuing to work with FGD and hope to welcome the company back again next year for another wonderful day of golf.”
