Top wedding trends for couples planning for 2024

Couples planning to tie the knot in 2024 are being urged to embrace colour and seek to be more sustainable by a leading Warwickshire wedding planner.

Chloe Mason

Chloe Mason supports couples planning their special day at The Stratford Park Hotel which has been hosting weddings for nearly 30 years.

The independent hotel hosts around 60 weddings every year in its on-site venue The Meadow Barn and staff at the venue have seen a move to bright colours, such as pinks and oranges.

Couples are also considering more than ever before renting style features to make their day more sustainable.

The Meadow Barn hosted an open day last month, with Chloe and the team showing couples around the venue, which is set in 150 acres of Warwickshire countryside, gleaning insights into the trends which will be central to weddings in 2024.

Chloe says that trends are always changing quickly with celebrity weddings continuing to influence couples, but brides and grooms are still thinking outside the box and weddings are being more personalised than ever before.

She has seen couples experiment with a disco-style wedding and also request to have a mobile tattoo studio at their reception.

“We are expecting people to try to bring more colour into their weddings next year, particularly bright colours like shades of pink and orange,” said Chloe.

“There is also a trend developing where brides and grooms are asking their guests to wear a certain colour, which directly complements that of the styling of the venue and what the wedding party is wearing.

“We had a wedding recently which saw guests and the wedding party in pink to match the décor of the room, with even a dip dyed pink veil.

“There is a stark contrast to this as the last year has also seen couples starting to experiment with black by incorporating it into styling, dress code, table decorations, which can perhaps be related to the Olly Murs wedding in the summer.”

Chloe says that she expects the popularity of barn wedding venues to continue to grow, with room dressing trends to include showstopping signage and backstops.

Couples are also seeking to be more sustainable by renting style features for their wedding, which helps to reduce wastage.

“Young couples in particular are still looking at barn venues, over a traditional country house or function room,” Chloe added.

“There is still a focus on creating that ‘wow factor’ with signage and backdrops. We have noticed a lot of people asking for floral hoops, to jazz up their photography. The focus on floral hoops, greenery and natural features is set to ramp up in 2024.

“We are also seeing couples spending more attention to show-stopping florals for the ceremony that can be used for the wedding breakfast.

“Couples are continuing to create unique welcome signs, for example we recently had a couple with a white ladder, with each step highlighting the key times for the day.

“More of the people that come to us and are planning for 2024 will ask about sustainability now. Over the last decade there has been a focus on DIY room styling, but we think there will be a move away from that to rentals.

“Not only do couples not have to worry about dressing the room on the day, they are also reducing wastage by limiting the single-use decoration usage.

“People are looking at sustainable ways to decorate, for example using the same flowers for the ceremony as for the wedding breakfast as previously mentioned, using other recycled products and biodegradable confetti.

“Styling always will depend on the couple, and that individuality is still at the heart, but there are certainly trends we are seeing which will be at the heart of celebrations for next year!”
